For the first time, TGA will be at the OT Show so Occupational Therapists can understand how it works with healthcare professionals and why its mobility products make a positive difference.
(Stand D49, NEC, 23rd and 24th November 2022).
TGA Assessors will be demonstrating manual and powered wheelchairs, mobility scooters and launching the new WHILL F powerchair and TGA adjustable chair range. There will also be the recently launched Scoozy which is a unique combination of a mobility scooter and powered wheelchair. Scoozy will be joined by several of TGA’s more established products including the Strongback wheelchair, TGA Wheelchair Powerpack and WHILL C2 powerchair.
Delegates visiting the TGA stand will also be able to hear about emotive customer experiences. The way its products provide movement and enablement for different types of people and places will highlight advantages for OT clients. With this evidence and guidance from TGA, the prescription of appropriate products will then be clearer – resulting in better outcomes.
Ailsa Reston OT and co-owner of RKS Occupational Therapist Services, prescribes TGA products such as the WHILL and Strongback wheelchair. She says: “The clients I have been involved with who use a WHILL like the look of the product in that it is stylish and does not look like a powered wheelchair. They feel confident and more accepted as the appearance of the wheelchair is not clinical. This leads to their WHILL being used in everyday situations and improving well-being and quality of life.”
Ailsa adds in relation to the Strongback and its curved backrest: “It is known that many people suffer from backache in their traditional wheelchair due to poor ergonomics. Providing a backrest that is geometrically more in-keeping with the natural curvature of the spine means extended periods of sitting will not result in pain or discomfort.”
