With a global reputation for innovation, quality and reliability, Apollo Fire Detectors are the UK’s leading manufacturer of fire detection and alarm devices. Their latest range, the Soteria Dimension, is an EN54-7 approved fire detector with an innovative flush-mounted design for the UK and international market.
Established in 1980, Apollo Fire products have been keeping people safe from fire for over 40 years and in over 100 countries worldwide. A relentless desire for innovation drives the company’s product development programme, bringing new technologies to the forefront of fire detection solutions.
The new Dimension range is the next generation of fire detection and comes in two distinct designs for niche applications; aesthetic installations and specialist anti-ligature installations, which there was not a suitable solution for until now.
In some healthcare facilities, it is necessary to eliminate points where a cord or bedsheet could create a method of hanging, known as a ligature, which may result in self-harm or in extreme cases, loss of life to at-risk patients. A fire alarm system can be used as a ligature in these situations, and as such installation of standard devices can pose a high risk in mental health and hospital environments.
The Soteria Dimension Specialist Optical Detector is an addressable smoke detector that has been designed specifically for use in healthcare and custodial environments. Because of its anti-vandal and anti-ligature design, installation of the Soteria Dimension is an effective way of reducing or eliminating ligature risks.
The Specialist Detector has been tested to meet the requirements of Ministry of Justice specification STD/E/SPEC/038, and independently certified to DHF TS0001 for anti-ligature use in specialist areas. The shock-resistant faceplate is fitted with anti-tamper screws to ensure that it’s completely secure.
The Soteria Dimension Specialist Optical Detector is recommended for minimising safety hazards in environments such as hospitals, contingency wards, quiet rooms and mental health wards.
