Nuffield Health and the Personalised Care Institute (PCI) have this month kickstarted a long-term partnership. It means that around 3,000 healthcare professionals working at Nuffield Health, which includes nurses, physiotherapists, doctors, physiologists and rehabilitation specialists, will access the PCI’s range of e-Learning courses as part of their mandatory CPD.
Underpinned by an accredited curriculum, the PCI’s courses equip all healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge to place every patient at the centre of their medical decisions; changing conversations with patients to ‘what matters to you’ instead of ‘what’s the matter with you.’ This is proven to improve adherence to treatment, reduce rehabilitation time and improve patient and clinician experiences.
This is the first dedicated personalised care training to be delivered at Nuffield Health.
The PCI’s courses include the Core Skills module, which is the first step on every healthcare professional’s personalised care training journey. Many of the Nuffield Health clinical team members also work with NHS teams and many Nuffield Health hospital sites work closely with their local NHS trusts, so the personalised care approach will reach even more patients via this partnership. In the COVID-19 pandemic, Nuffield Health’s hospitals cared for over 385,000 NHS patients in local communities.

Ledbetter said that Nuffield Health is passionate about delivering personalised care. He added: “If people are involved in decision making, they will have a better understanding of the care that they are receiving and are more likely to engage with the advice they are given regarding their rehabilitation, suggestions around lifestyle changes and post treatment care.”
The PCI is backed by NHS England and Improvement and supported by 40+ key health organisations. It is seeking to train 75,000 healthcare professionals via its eLearning hub by 2024 as part of the NHS Long-Term Plan. Courses are free and available to healthcare professionals working in the NHS and across private settings.
