Improved efficacy
Short contact times
Enhanced skin protection
New desderman® care, from schülke (experts in infection prevention) sets new standards for hand disinfection, combining enhanced efficacy with proven skin care1. Containing 89.1g ethanol per 100ml, desderman care is effective against many bacteria and viruses (including coronaviruses) in 15 seconds.
Available as a ready to use gel and also a liquid, desderman Care has a broad spectrum of efficacy and can be used for hygienic and surgical hand disinfection (contact times of 30 seconds and 90 seconds respectively). Pro-panthenol and vitamin E have been added to help protect the skin. These additional ingredients have an anti-inflammatory effect, relieve itching and make the skin less prone to cracking, whilst helping to maintain the skin’s natural barrier function.
In a skin compatibility study1, desderman care was found to increase skin moisture, improve the skin’s barrier function and decrease skin scaliness (compared to untreated skin).
desderman care meets the stringent gold standard tests for efficacy as specified by the European Norms (EN), with broad spectrum virucidal efficacy conforming to EN14476, bactericidal to EN13727, hygienic hand disinfection to EN1500 and surgical hand disinfection to EN12791. A study comparing a certified alcohol based hand rub (ABHR) with a non-certified one showed the bacterial burden was only reduced by 6-fold from baseline using the non-certified product compared to almost 50-fold from baseline with the certified one2.
There is considerable evidence that effective hand sanitisation significantly reduces the transmission of healthcare-associated pathogens. However, the efficacy of alcohol hand sanitisers depends on the type of alcohol, the quantity applied, the technique used, and the consistency of use. The alcohol concentration in hand sanitisers changes its efficacy, with one study demonstrating that a hand rub with 85% ethanol content was significantly better at reducing bacterial populations than those with a lower ethanol content. In addition, evidence demonstrates that ethanol appears to be the most effective alcohol against viruses3.
