High energy, inspirational leader Ana Brisbar has been appointed Hospital Director of Southleigh Hospital in Croydon, South London, by trusted NHS partner, Inmind Healthcare Group, the 7th largest provider of mental healthcare services in the UK. Southleigh Hospital – rated Good by CQC across all its services with ‘Outstanding’ for Care – is a community-based mental health care service for individuals experiencing serious mental illness that interferes with their ability to live in the community, attend appointments with professionals in clinics and hospitals, and manage mental health symptoms.
Ana – whose objective is to provide excellent tailored care and support for service users progressing through their recovery journey – has her and her team’s sights firmly set on securing an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating across all elements of the hospital’s services.
Ana who brings with her 13 years’ experience working in mental health, joined Southleigh in 2019 as an Occupational Therapist responsible for the physical health of mental health service users. Having obtained a Master’s Degree in Psychology and Mental Health and also in Leadership and Management in Mental Health and Social Care, Ana rose quickly through the ranks to be appointed Director of Clinical Governance and then Deputy Hospital Director, before being appointed the top role.
Over the past five years, skills gained working together with the nursing team, multi-disciplinary team, and non-clinical staff has enabled Ana to create a strong team spirit. “Happy staff positively impact service user progress and outcomes, ” she said.
Ana, who employs role-models-values-based leadership to command the confidence and trust of all stakeholders, has created an open and transparent culture within the hospital. She actively encourages her team to participate, share best practice and to contribute to brainstorm sessions on complex cases and the creation of action plans to optimise recovery outcomes.
