There is great anticipation as the Future of Care Conference North returns on the 1st of November, taking place in the scenic surroundings of Pavilions of Harrogate. The conference welcomes leaders from across the care sector, including C-level professionals, business owners, managers and influencers. Delegates will come together for a day aimed at shaping the future for those who work in care and the elderly who rely on the sectors support.
National News Anchor Sameena Ali-Khan will return as conference chair, guiding delegates through the conference programme consisting of 12 quality speaker sessions.
The programme will cover some of the most crucial challenges across the sector to date. In the afternoon panel session, new approaches to social care funding will be deliberated. The talk will look into the correct use of additional funding, what strategies can be learnt from overseas and what improvements can be made now to avoid catastrophic care costs in the future.
Focusing on another challenge in the sector is Melanie Ulyatt, National Vice-Chair at the Federation of Small Businesses, who will be discussing how we can raise the profile of the entire social care sector to ensure people get the levels of care they need.
Professor Claire Surr, Director of the Centre for Dementia Research at Leeds Beckett University, will be unpacking the latest trends in dementia education and training and advising on the necessary training and education needed to care for those with dementia.
Delegates will hear from Dame Philippa Russell DBE, Vice President at Carers UK and Member of the Minister’s Lived Experience’ Reference Group, who will be providing her perspective as a carer on what is truly needed to make a reform work as well as the immediate and long-term impact of the cost-of-living crisis.
Innovation and technology are key matters of discussion as they continue to play an influencing role in the future of care. Attend the conference to hear how innovation and technology can drive improvements for safety in care homes, save money for the NHS and create products for future generations.
Other key speakers at the conference are Professor Deborah Sturdy OBE, Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care in England; Joanne Scott, Adult Social Care Inspector from Care Quality Commission; Dr. Adrian Hayter, National Clinical Director for Older People and Person-Centered Care at the NHS and Mike Padgham, Chair of Independent Care Group (ICG).
