The team at The Hillings residential care home in Eaton Socon, Cambridgeshire has introduced a special Wish List programme for its residents.
The home, which provides a range of care services including specialist dementia care, is asking for residents to provide regular ‘wishes’ for a special board, and the team will do its utmost to grant those wishes – whether they are able to do so in-house or seek assistance from the local community in helping to accomplish the wish.
This week it was the turn of two residents, Ann and Jill (pictured), to be granted one of their wishes, which was to visit The Weeping Ash pub in St Neots to enjoy a traditional pub lunch.
Deb Wiltshire, Manager of The Hillings: “We strive to offer person-centred care, support and stimulation here at The Hillings and felt the Wish List was a great way of capturing residents’ individual wishes – no matter what they have in mind. So whether they wish to enjoy fish and chips from the wrapper at the seaside, a trip to a salon for a pamper day or to a ride in an aircraft, we will do our very best to make that wish possible.
“There may be times where we have to call on the community for help, so we will be sure to post details of our wishes on our Facebook page if help is needed! It was lovely to see Ann and Jill enjoy their visit to the pub – here’s to many more wishes being granted.”
The Hillings is part of the Healthcare Homes Group. Based in Eaton Socon near St Neots, the home provides a range of care services for the elderly, including those living with dementia.
