What does Nano mean?
The term “Nano” is a unit prefix meaning “one billionth” or a factor of 10-9 (0.000000001). Its minuscule measurement is most often used in science and electronics for prefixing units of time and length. To put it in context, one nanometer is approximately equivalent to the length that a fingernail grows in one second. A nanoparticle is an ultrafine particle sized between 1 to 100 nanometers (nm) in diameter that are too small to be seen with the naked eye or conventional microscopes.
