We understand that you’re not trying to read another article that tells you all of the bad aspects that come with your need to stop smoking. But, we just can’t help spreading our wealth of knowledge with you and anyone else that needs to know the tips to quit smoking.
I want you to know that I care about you and from one mother to another mother I care about your unborn child as well. It is our inherent nature to protect and nurture our offspring. Kind of like a female wolf protecting her mate’s throat from a potentially dangerous situation.
When anything threatens our family, especially our children, a savageness within us is unlocked. But, what can you do when the person threatening your child’s wellbeing is the person that was supposed to protect them? You!
The sad truth is that for so many unborn children the person posing the greatest threat to them and their development is their mother. Who just can’t seem to stop puffing on that toxic chemical stick.
There are many chemicals within a cigarette like butane, menthol, nicotine, and many more that not only stunt your child’s growth, it also interferes with future development as well. As their mother, you shouldn’t be the one to harm them when there are so many other things in their lives that they will be up against.
Smoking may be something you picked up socially or something is done to alleviate stress. There are many ways to alleviate the stress that doesn’t require you to pick up and smoke a cigarette.
The ways that we are going to give you will not only alleviate stress, but it will furthermore help to strengthen you and your body throughout your pregnancy and in preparation for giving birth.
Try taking a shower that has essential oil drips in it. I suggest a shower because in general a warm bath is not healthy for a Women’s hormone balance and can actually introduce bacteria into the cervix that are dangerous to not only you but your child as well.
The shower will help you to clear your mind and relax your body, muscles, and joints. Think of it this way when your body is relaxed your fetus is relaxing as well; relaxing and listening to the sounds that are surrounding them.
Another thing you could possibly do is to take a walk. Walking is a great way to strengthen your leg muscles and to build your endurance.
Building the muscles in your legs will again prepare you for giving birth and your endurance level increasing will allow you to get ready for however long you will be pushing in order to get your little one out and through the birth canal. Being born can be strenuous for a fetus.
I say this because they’ve gone from relaxing in your womb to being pushed out into a foreign world. Now take that and then understand that by smoking during pregnancy your increasing the level of trauma and stress that they feel whilst inside your wound.
Inner trauma plus the trauma of being born will not make for such a welcome entrance into the world. And it can compile the complications of giving birth for you and your child putting you both in a life-threatening and dangerous situation.
Another stress reliever is to talk to someone that you trust and you know won’t judge you for your feelings. This will allow you to vent and sort through your thoughts while receiving an unbiased opinion.
By sorting through your thoughts and what is causing your stress it is easier to pinpoint your triggers and avoid or deal with them in a better and healthier way. This tool can be applied to many areas of your life and help you in more ways than you could imagine.
Swimming is also a calming and wonderful way to exercise. It works muscles all over your body that you didn’t realize you needed to work while at the same time soothing your back.
Backaches are apart of pregnancy as your body continues to grow and stretch in new ways. Try to get a prenatal massage, there are massage parlors that specialize in massages (facial, body, foot) that are geared towards relieving stress specifically in the body of a woman that is expecting.
The tables that are within these massages spas are designed to comfortably cradle your bump so that you don’t experience any pulling from laying down. A massage allows you to free your mind and truly relax and enjoy all of the wonderful things that your body is doing.
It may be difficult to completely stop smoking cigarettes, but I am certain that if you find a way to channel your stress and release it in a healthier way you will not need to smoke at all. Smoking is a result of not understanding and knowing how to deal with life stressors.
It is important that you learn another way to cope with stress because not only does your child’s health depend on it, they will also need you to teach them how to deal with their own stressors as well. Everything you know will eventually be passed down to your children.
And we don’t want to be responsible for passing down negative habits. Cigarette smoking is a very negative habit and one that can lead to a host of developmental issues and physical diseases that could end in death or severely handicapping of a person.
Begin your journey to give up cigarette smoke by focusing on why and who you’re giving up smoking for. And that is for the benefit of your child and you. So that you will have a healthier body for them to grow within.
And also to give them a healthier environment to live and grow up around. Your child will understand that you gave up such a nasty and horrible habit to give them a better chance at life and they will love you for it!
Trust me, I am a mother after all.
