Congratulations to Wymondham care home, Windmill House, for achieving ‘Outstanding’ status following a recent inspection by England’s health and social care regulator, the Care Quality Commission.
Owned by leading UK residential care provider, Runwood Homes Senior Living, the 57 bedroom residential care home situated in Browick Road, Wymondham, caring for older people including those living with dementia, now proudly falls within the top 2% of care homes in England with this exceptional rating and is one of just three homes in Norfolk to receive this level of accreditation.
Celebrating this week, Windmill House’s long-standing Home Manager, Julie Aldred, commented, “We are so very proud to achieve the highest possible CQC rating. Our dedicated and passionate team consistently concentrates on providing the best possible residential care service, focusing our attention on our residents individual needs and wises within a safe, inspiring and comfortable living environment. The CQC report, published on 30 January 2019 following an unannounced inspection on 17 December 2018, at which time the Windmill House was rated ‘good, found; ‘The care that people received was individualised and very person-centred. The registered manager was an inspiring leader of an enthusiastic staff team committed to providing the best care for people. Care focused on supporting people’s independence and promoting dignity and respect.’
Observations outlined within the glowing report also complimented the commitment to connect with others; ‘There was active engagement with the local community so that people were supported to attend events in the local community as well as inviting people from the local community to take part in the homes events. There was an excellent range of activities reflecting the diverse preferences and needs of individuals in the home.’
The report furthermore championed the Norfolk care home stating ‘A holistic approach was visible in the care plans’ and ‘People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible’.
