A Surrey-based social care provider has won multiple awards at this year’s Surrey Care Awards, cementing itself as a premium social care provider in Surrey.
Surrey Choices was shortlisted for several awards and won three awards on the night – Care Worker of the Year: Supported Living/Day & Community Services, Care Worker of the Year: Home-based Care and Excellence in Workforce Innovation.
The award ceremony, held on the 8th November, was an evening dedicated to celebrating excellence in care across Surrey. The event was hosted by comedian Judi Love and the guests enjoyed a lively drinks reception, magic performances and a three-course meal.
The night culminated in awards recognising exceptional achievements in care, with prizes for the most boldly and brightly dressed attendees, adding a splash of colour to an inspiring evening. The Surrey Care Awards once again highlighted the dedication and passion of those working in care, making it a night to remember.

Travel Choices Manager, Cheryl Knight, won the Care Worker of the Year award for the Supported Living and Day/Community Services category.
Her nomination detailed how she has ‘shown great commitment to making a difference to young people and their families’ by ‘running a safe but aspirational service’. It celebrated her hands-on approach to training disabled people to travel independently, working in a person-centred way involving families, schools and other professionals for maximum impact.
The Care Worker of the Year: Home-based Care award was won by Sheila and David Wallond. Sheila and David are Shared Lives Carers, which means they live with and support people with additional needs from their home.
The couple provide high-quality, person-centred support for a lady in a long-term arrangement as well as regular respite for six different people, delivering them and their families a vital service.
The final award won on the night was the Excellence in Workforce Innovation award. The award was presented to Surrey Choices, in partnership with other Surrey-based providers, for their work on the Care Talent Collective, a campaign to increase recruitment in the care sector.
The partnership has been working on two big projects: one aims to recruit new care workers and leaders targeting people who may not have otherwise chosen social care as a career, and the other trains people with lived experience of disabilities or neurodivergence to provide specialist Oliver McGowan training.
Surrey Choices provides a range of support services to improve the independence, confidence and life skills of people with a range of disabilities and support needs, whatever their age, in the local community.
