mikrozid® universal wipes green line are now available to order on NHS Supply Chain. Offering an innovative ecological alternative to conventional plastic-based wipes, mikrozid® universal wipes green line provide outstanding cleaning performance combined with maximum material compatibility and excellent skin tolerance.
Green credentials
The sustainable wipes are 100% plastic free with no micro-plastics and are climate neutral due to carbon offsetting. No toxic substances are released if the wipes are incinerated.
The green line wipes are uniquely manufactured using a three-layer, non-woven process produced with 100% Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified materials, using 25% less CO2 emissions than most other wipes. The packaging contains 22% PIR (post-industrial recyclate) and the new optimised format requires 14% less packaging material per soft pack and achieves a 27% higher pallet utilisation.
Efficacy
mikrozid® universal wipes green line provide outstanding cleaning performance. They are ideal when rapid cleaning and disinfection of medical devices and surfaces with short contact times are required. With a unique low alcohol formulation containing a blend of two alcohols, the wipes contain added surfactants to boost cleaning performance, are rapid acting and certified to the highest standards. Providing cleaning and disinfection in a single product, mikrozid® universal wipes green line are effective against bacteria (within one minute contact time, EN16615 4-field test) yeast and viruses, including enveloped viruses such as coronaviruses.
Material compatibility
mikrozid® universal wipes green line are compatible with a wide range of materials including leatherette, tablets and displays. They are ideal for clinical use, particularly when a material friendly disinfectant is needed. They can be used to clean and disinfect the surfaces of keyboards and touch pads/display screens of sensitive equipment, patient treatment units, examination couches, operating tables and nearby work surfaces, digital display screens, surfaces of medical equipment and smartphones.
When cleaning medial devices and sensitive equipment, efficacy and material compatibility are essential. The MHRA raised concerns in 2021 about the potential damage caused by disinfectant wipes if they are not compatible with the surface material. They warned against ‘the use of inappropriate chemicals to clean and disinfect medical devices’ which may lead to ‘the premature failure of the device’ and a knock-on effect which could impact on patient care as well as on clinical and financial governance [MHRA, 2021].
Skin tolerance
mikrozid® universal wipes green line are dermatologically tested to ensure excellent skin tolerance.
