At Healthcare Estates, IDEXX will be demonstrating the new Legiolert® test, for rapid and accurate detection of Legionella pneumophila, the principal causative agent of Legionnaires’ disease. Independent studies have shown Legiolert to be faster and to have a significant improvement in the enumeration of L. pneumophila from drinking water-related samples than current methods.
IDEXX Water’s portfolio of products also includes the award-winning Pseudalert®, which was launched in 2014 into the UK healthcare sector to facilitate the rapid identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in hospital water systems. The test can either be carried out in a laboratory environment, or set up with minimal capital expenditure within a facility, to enable in-house testing and monitoring of water systems. Pseudalert gives confirmed results in 24 hours, less than half the time taken by traditional agar culture methods.
