With August marking ‘Happiness Happens Month’, a Surrey care home is looking to fulfil the bucket list wish of one of its residents by getting her on the back of a Harley Davidson.
Former hairdresser Barbara, aged 88, who lives in Huntington House, has always dreamed of taking a ride on one of the infamous choppers ever since she set her sights on a rather ‘special’ one in a pub car park.
Following her admission, people working at the care home are now on the hunt for someone who can help make it a reality.
Barbara said: “The one thing on my bucket list is to ride a Harley Davidson and swing out around the corners, I would enjoy that very much. I’d probably fall off, but I’d get straight back on again!
“I always remember my husband and I coming out of the pub, into the car park and we saw a beautiful Harley Davidson, it was very special because it had streamers from the handlebars and a cowboy scene on the seat. I was so excited, I thought ‘I would love a ride on that’.
“I would definitely ride one now, as long as I had a crash helmet, yes I would! Yippee!”
Charlie Hoare, director at the Huntington and Langham Estate, said: “We were having a conversation with a few of the people who live here about things they’d love to tick off their bucket list and Barbara said a ride on a Harley Davidson.
“We’d love to get this arranged for her. Barbara has such a positive outlook on life, and everyone has said they’ll do whatever they can to make this happen. If there’s anyone out there who thinks they can help, we’d love for them to get in touch with us.”
