Gosforth RFC is one of the oldest rugby clubs in the whole of the UK, founded in 1877 by ex-pupils of Durham School. The team still plays in the original colours of green hooped shirts. The club currently play in the Durham/Northumberland 2 League. It has many famous ex-players – including Roger Uttley, the one-time captain of England.
Today the club is based at Broadway West Sports Ground in a multi-use sports complex in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, England. There are several teams playing from this base – including First and Second XV plus Colts and Juniors. Recently the changing facilities were upgraded and the provision of hot water for the showers were a major issue.
The club wanted to ensure that it reduced its carbon footprint and, as far as possible, futureproof any appliances – and still deliver limitless hot water on demand.
Rinnai supplied three of its N Series units giving limitless, temperature accurate hot water on demand which, collectively, give a flow rate of over 3500 litres of hot water at 50 degrees C per hour incorporating 500 litres buffer.
Rinnai’s N Series range of hot water heating units and systems have been passed as fully certified to the new UKCA standard, the successor to the CE mark. The company is thought to be one of the first and only in the heating & hot water industry to have gained this official recognition.
All Rinnai units are guaranteed to provide limitless volumes of temperature accurate hot water flows, provided fuel and water connection are constant. Rinnai also states that multiples of its existing ranges are retrospectively compatible with hydrogen-blends including all N series models already installed in the UK.
The Rinnai Sensei N Series continuous flow hot water heater range offers a more compact, enhanced combustion design that allows for easier installation, superior operational performance as well as ease of serviceability.
The Rinnai Sensei N Series four models are:
All the range are also low-NOx, and the futureproofed continuous flow water heater utilises Rinnai’s patented advanced burner technology with a 13-1 turn down ratio – the largest on the market – with extremely quiet operation. Integral controls on the units enable the water heater to achieve high efficiencies because of advanced burner control and high modulation ranges.
Rinnai has announced that, after an extensive testing and verification process, its N Series product range is ‘Hydrogen ready’ for the proposed initial supply of natural gas and hydrogen blends fed through the gas pipeline infrastructure.
Rinnai also states that multiples of their existing ranges are retro compatible with future hydrogen blending, these include any N series models installed since 2019.
Rinnai is a true global player in the manufacture of domestic and commercial appliances and operates in almost 50 countries. Rinnai is the world’s leading manufacturer of continuous flow hot water systems – it makes and sells 2 million units each year. The range of units can be manifolded to supply limitless hot water to any site of any size.
