Leading experts will discuss how early and accurate assessments of burn wounds can lead to faster treatment and better outcomes for patients in a free educational webinar for healthcare professionals.
Time to Heal Burn Wounds will be led by Northern Burn Care Network Lead Nurse Jacky Edwards and Psychological Care Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist Dr Emma Hodgkinson.
The free webinar has been organised by Spectral AI, the creators of the DeepView® imaging system which is used in several UK NHS hospitals and employs artificial intelligence to give clinicians a healing assessment on day-one of a burn wound injury to help them make treatment decisions for patients.
Spectral AI Clinical Manager Lisa Wood said: “For many patients who suffer a burn their recovery is a lifelong journey.
“Reducing the impact of physical scarring can assist in the patient’s recovery and it’s well documented that early treatment and wound closure can improve their healing outcomes.
“By the end of this webinar the audience will understand the importance of healing a burn wound quickly and how early and accurate assessment can facilitate faster treatment. We will also examine the impact of delayed healing on patient wellbeing.
“Jacky and Emma have an incredible amount of experience and we’d urge healthcare professionals not to miss out on this chance to take advantage of their knowledge.”
As well as being the Lead Nurse for the Northern Burn Care Network, Jacky is National Wound Care Strategy Programmes Clinical Lead for Surgical Wound Complications and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University.
