Blueleaf Care, the nationwide business that helps care homes deliver better outcomes, has opened a major new distribution hub and service delivery centre in Castleford, West Yorkshire, to better serve its customers in the north.
Combining more than 43,000sq ft of warehousing and office space, the new facility will enable Blueleaf to be closer to its customers, further accelerating delivery times, shortening supply chains, and reducing delivery miles to support a more sustainable business.
It will serve as the base for the northern account management and customer services team, led by Helen Kenny, Business Manager North. Up to 25 new jobs have also been created as a result.
The hub will enable Blueleaf to warehouse its complete care portfolio across a wide range of categories including: bedding and linen; care consumables; care equipment; catering; cleaning materials; continence care; dementia care; housekeeping; infection control; and personal protection. Customers will also be able to access Blueleaf’s extensive range of furniture.
Peter Jarrett, Director of Operations, says the new facility has been the missing part in its national jigsaw: “Opening such a significant facility in the north to add to our existing distribution centre and headquarters in the south gives us true nationwide capability with consistent levels of service and delivery,” he explains.
“It means we will not only serve our existing customers better, but can also provide services to new customers who may previously have been concerned about delivery times, or conscious of managing their carbon footprint. It’s also further evidence of our commitment to partnerships, and working more closely with our clients, in this case quite literally by being on their doorstep.”
The new facility, Latitude, is situated by Junction 31 of the M62, and offers a best-in-class ESG specification, with solar panels, low energy lighting, and electric vehicle charging for small and large vehicles.
