The Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) has announced a comprehensive package of support to help UK companies successfully navigate the complexities of the Chinese market.
Launched to support companies wanting to attend the China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) 2024, the support includes visitor packages and in-market access, and has been developed in collaboration with experts from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and Dezan Shira & Associates (DSA).
Visitor packages will include full access to the CMEF exhibition and use of ABHI’s central support stand. This offers the opportunity for one-on-one sessions with specialist advisors from DBT, as well as serving as a hub for meetings and networking. It has also been confirmed that the UK’s Consul General will be visiting the UK Pavilion on Day 1 of the show. This presents a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with high-level officials and gain valuable insights into the strategies for success in China.
Anyone taking out a visitor package is also invited to join a comprehensive clinic that will cover essential aspects such as business intelligence, market access, IP protection, export and registration. The clinic will be held at DSA’s Shanghai offices and will provide practical insights into conducting business in China.
In a further bid to share knowledge, a market briefing webinar is being held on 22nd March. Registration for which is available here.
The UK’s HealthTech sector is highly regarded, with its breadth of innovative companies, products, and services well-suited to meeting increased global demands. This reputation positions UK exporters advantageously to address the expanding healthcare needs in China, where reliable and cutting-edge solutions are in high demand.
China’s evolving demographic landscape, characterised by an ageing population with increased wealth, has led to a surge in demand for healthcare services. The Chinese Government has introduced preferential policies to attract overseas brands to meet these needs. Subsectors with high market potential include IVDs, imaging, wound care, high-value consumables (cardiovascular, orthopaedics, ophthalmology), rehabilitation, and medical robotics.
Michelle Michelucci, Head of International at ABHI, said: “Of course, navigating expansive and intricate markets the size of China can be daunting which is why we have worked in collaboration with experts from the Department for Business and Trade and Dezan Shira & Associates to offer UK companies a comprehensive visitor package to CMEF. It aims to demystify market access and equip participants with invaluable insights for successfully navigating the complexities of the Chinese market.”
CMEF is the largest HealthTech expo in China and is taking place from April 11th – 14th, 2024 in Shanghai. The event draws in excess of 150,000 visitors and exhibitors annually, providing a substantial platform for global HealthTech companies.
